JONH SNOW THE KING IN THE NORTH....

At the end of game of throne season 6......the game is still on, now hotter than fire. The most interesting revelation is that, our dear Jon Snow have a Legitimate clam to the iron throne. Here is the break down or summary of season 6...
After almost a decade-long summer, Westeros now braces itself for an equally-harsh winter, in more ways than one.
In King's Landing, Cersei Lannister has finally achieved her lifelong goal. In one swift move, she has practically wiped out all of her enemies, rivals and obstructions, including Queen Margaery Tyrell, Lord Mace Tyrell, Loras Tyrell, her uncle Kevan, Grand Maester Pycelle, the High Sparrow and the entirety of the Faith Militant, by destroying the Great Sept of Baelor using large amounts of wildfire. Her three children, Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen are all dead, Tommen having taken his own life shortly after the Sept's destruction, and thus Cersei has crowned herself the undisputed Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, with Qyburn and the undead knight Ser Gregor Clegane at her side. After years of serving as the power behind the throne, House Lannister has now become the new royal house. However, Cersei is still haunted by the prophecy she was told about during her childhood, which claimed that the deaths of her children would only predate her own, making her all the more determined to crush her enemies once and for all.
Despite Cersei's rise to power, the War of the Five Kings continues to ravage the country.
In the Riverlands, the last bastion of King Robb Stark's independent Northern/Riverland Kingdom, Riverrun, has fallen to House Lannister and House Frey, led by Ser Jaime Lannister. Robb's great-uncle, Brynden "The Blackfish" Tully, is dead, having chosen to fight to the death rather than surrender Riverrun, a move that was made possible by his own nephew, Edmure Tully, who ordered the Tully garrison to stand down for the sake of his wife and unborn child. Despite the victory of House Frey, Lord Walder Frey is also dead, having been murdered by Arya Stark for his role in the Red Wedding, leaving the rule of the Riverlands in unknown hands. Also, Sandor "The Hound" Clegane has survived his brutal fight with Brienne of Tarth and attempted to build a new, humble life, but has been dragged back into conflict by the Brotherhood Without Banners, who intend to head North to fight in the war that is coming. Brienne and her squire, Podrick Payne, were only barely able to escape the fall of Riverrun, following their failed attempt to recruit the Blackfish to their cause.
On the Iron Islands, King Balon Greyjoy is dead, having been murdered by his psychopathic brother, Euron Greyjoy. Balon's son, Theon, who returned to the Iron Islands after helping Sansa Stark escape from Ramsay Bolton, endorsed his elder sister, Yara, as their father's successor at the subsequent Kingsmoot, but Euron has usurped the Salt Throne with the promise of an alliance with Daenerys Targaryen across the Narrow Sea to help him conquer the Seven Kingdoms. In desperation, Theon and Yara have stolen most of Euron's fleet and sought out Daenerys's help first, sealing an alliance between House Targaryen and House Greyjoy to help Daenerys retake the Iron Throne and execute Euron for his crimes. Euron, however, has ordered the construction of an even bigger fleet to destroy all who may stand in his way.
Also aiding the Targaryens are the Martells. In Dorne, Ellaria Sand and the Sand Snakes have staged a coup and murdered Prince Doran Martell and his heir, Trystane, and taken control of Dorne in retaliation for Doran refusing to avenge his brother, Oberyn. With Cersei declaring war against the Martells for the murder of Myrcella, Ellaria has turned to Daenerys and her loyalists to bring the Lannisters down. Lady Olenna Tyrell, in response to the deaths of her son, grandson and granddaughter, has also turned to the Targaryens and Martells through Daenerys' loyalist, Varys.
Most of the strife in the Seven Kingdoms, however, lies at the North. At Winterfell, Roose Bolton is dead, having been murdered by his own son, Ramsay, along with his wife and newborn child, leaving Ramsay as the new Warden of the North and enabling him to solidify alliances with House Karstark and House Umber, with Rickon Stark as a hostage. At the Wall, following a horrific mutiny, the deceased Lord Commander Jon Snow has been revived by the Red Priestess Melisandre, while Sansa Stark has escaped from Winterfell and Ramsay, to seek shelter with Jon. Having resigned his post in the Night's Watch, Jon has built an army to retake Winterfell from Ramsay, aided by Ser Davos Seaworth, Tormund and Lady Lyanna Mormont, and though they have achieved victory and destroyed House Bolton thanks to the Knights of the Vale, courtesy of Lord Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish, House Stark's future is left in a questionable position. With Robb and Rickon dead and Bran believed dead as well, the Northern Lords have turned to Jon and named him the new King in the North, while Sansa has rejected Littlefinger's proposal to help him take the Iron Throne and serve as his queen, setting the stage for conflict between Jon and Littlefinger. Melisandre, meanwhile, has been dismissed from Jon's service following the discovery of her role in Shireen Baratheon's death, stripping Jon of easily one of his most valuable advisors, and is now heading to locations unknown.
In the Reach, despite having to brave various obstacles, Samwell Tarly and his surrogate family, Gilly and her son, have finally reached the Citadel in Oldtown, where Sam intends to train as a maester to gain some insight into the White Walkers and how to defeat them.
Across the Narrow Sea, after having finally defeated the Slave Masters and the Sons of the Harpy and acquired an army made from the Dothraki, the Unsullied, House Greyjoy, House Martell and House Tyrell, Queen Daenerys Targaryen has finally set sail for Westeros, with Tyrion Lannister at her side as her Hand of the Queen, though at the cost of two of her advisors: Jorah Mormont whom Daenerys has sent to find a cure for his spreading greyscale infection, and Daario Naharis, her lover whom Daenerys has ordered to stay behind so that she may pursue a marriage alliance to aid her in her campaign. Little does she know, however, is that she is not be the last of her family after all, and there is somebody across the Narrow Sea who could legitimately challenge her claim to the Targaryen monarchy.
Also, in Braavos, though Arya Stark has regained her sight and favor with the Faceless Men, her code of honor has put her at odds with the guild, causing her to botch an assassination attempt on an innocent target. Despite almost being killed, Arya has escaped Braavos with her life and returned to Westeros, beginning her vengeance for her family by murdering Walder Frey and his sons, Lame Lothar and Black Walder, for orchestrating the Red Wedding that claimed the lives of her brother and mother.
Beyond the Wall, Bran Stark has been training in his powers in greensight under the tutelage of the Three-eyed raven and learned some devastating secrets, such as the true parentage of his alleged half-brother, Jon Snow: he is the son of Lyanna Stark, Ned Stark's sister, and possibly fathered by Rhaegar Targaryen, which would make him the nephew and a rival claimant to Daenerys Targaryen.

Following an attack which claims the lives of the Three-eyed raven, Hodor and the last of the Children of the Forest, Bran and Meera Reed have been rescued by Bran's undead uncle, Benjen Stark, and taken back to the Wall to prepare for the arrival of the Night King, who at all costs must be defeated before all Westeros can do is dream of spring.

BREAKING:THREE Australians and a New Zealander have been kidnapped by gunmen in southern Nigeria who killed their local driver in an early morning attack.

THREE Australians and a New Zealander have been kidnapped by gunmen in southern Nigeria who killed their local driver in an early morning attack.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull confirmed the men, who are believed to have been working for Perth-based mining company Macmahon Holdings, had been captured near Calabar in Nigeria’s south.
The families of those taken have been notified and the Australian high commissioner is at the scene, he said.
“We don’t know at this stage the identity of the kidnappers,” Mr Turnbull told reporters while campaigning in Geelong.
Mr Turnbull said three of the kidnapped men were Australian and the fourth a NZ citizen who had Australian residency.
Their local driver was killed during the attack on the group’s vehicle. Another Nigerian and one South African were also reportedly kidnapped.
“It is a very serious kidnapping,” Mr Turnbull said.
The men were contractors for cement company Lafarge Africa and were attacked around 5.30am local time on Wednesday, police said. Lafarge Africa said it was informed of the incident by Macmahon, which carries out quarrying operations at the UniCems joint venture cement plant in Mfamosing near Calabar.
Macmahon Holdings has put its shares in a trading halt on the Australian Securities Exchange ahead of an expected announcement about the kidnapping.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the government was in close contact with the Nigerian government, which is taking the matter extremely seriously.
“I have spoken with our ambassador in Nigeria this morning. I have also spoken with the heads of MacMahon, the mining firm affected by this,” she told media Thursday morning.
“I can confirm that seven people were ambushed and abducted. Three Australians and an Australian permanent resident who was a national of New Zealand, one One Australian was able to avoid the kidnap. Tragically, one Nigerian, a driver was killed and we extend our sympathies to the families.
Ms Bishop said her department was working closely with Nigerian authorities.
Macmahon has an $18 million per year contract with the United Cement Company of Nigeria Ltd (UniCem) for quarrying operations at UniCem’s cement manufacturing plant at Mfamosing, near Calabar.
UniCem is a joint venture between Franco-Swiss conglomerate LafargeHolcim and Flour Mills of Nigeria, according to the Australian firm’s website.
Kidnapping for ransom has been a longstanding problem in southern Nigeria, particularly in the oil-producing delta region, where criminal gangs target wealthy Nigerians and expatriate workers.
Most are usually released after the payment of a ransom.
DETAILS COMING UP SHORTLY.- OMAKUN MAYOWA SOLOMON.

SELF-ESTEEM: RAISING LOW SELF-ESTEEM

Self-Esteem
Possessing little self-regard can lead people to become depressed, to fall short of their potential, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love, on the other hand, results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failures. (It can also be a sign of clinical narcissism.) Perhaps no other self-help topic has spawned so much advice and so many (often conflicting) theories. Here are my best insights on how to strike a balance between accurate self-knowledge and respect for who you are.
Self-esteem reflects a person's overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs about oneself, (for example, "I am competent", "I am worthy"), as well as emotional states, such as triumph, despair, pride, and shame. Smith and Mackie (2007) defined it by saying "The self-concept is what we think about the self; self-esteem, is the positive or negative evaluations of the self, as in how we feel about it.

Factors That Can Influence Self-Esteem

As you might imagine, there are different factors that can influence self-esteem. Genetic factors that help shape overall personality can play a role, but it is often our experiences that form the basis for overall self-esteem. Those who consistently receive overly critical or negative assessments from caregivers, family members, and friends, for example, will likely experience problems with low self-esteem.
Four types of self Esteem
1.     Low Self Esteem
2.     High Self Esteem
3.     Worthiness Based Self Esteem
4.     Competence Based Self Esteem

On the horizontal line sits your Competence. As you may remember, competence is how good your abilities are at doing something, whether it be your job, sport, or creating something. In this sense it’s an easily observed and rated behavior. In this case -10 is very poor performance and +10 is highly successful performance.
On the vertical line is Worthiness. It is more of an internal feeling about how good you feel about yourself as a person. The scale here goes from -10 being very depressed, self-hating state, to +10 having an extremely high sense of worth. “0” on each scale is average.
As you can see, this sets up 4 quadrants:
  • Low Self Esteem: Low self-esteem is a negative evaluation of oneself. This type of evaluation usually occurs when some circumstance we encounter in our life touches on our sensitivities. We personalize the incident and experience physical, emotional, and cognitive arousal. This is so alarming and confusing that we respond by acting in a self-defeating or self-destructive manner. When that happens, our actions tend to be automatic and impulse-driven; we feel upset or emotionally blocked; our thinking narrows; our self-care deteriorates; we lose our sense of self; we focus on being in control and become self-absorbed. At -10,-10 sits a person who has a poor belief in both their self-worth and competence.  They basically have constant feelings of insecurity, are very cautious, timid, have poor initiative, avoid conflict, and suffer with a lot of anxiety and depression
  • High Self Esteem: At +10,+10 is a person who has a good belief in their competence and worth. They generally feel good about themselves, are open to new experiences, feel accepted, and are pleasant to be around. They have a high competence level, which means they have the skill set to succeed in life, and show good mental health, happiness, and are secure in their own identity.
  • Worthiness Based Self Esteem: +10,-10 Individuals that fit into this quadrant base their self esteem on how others view them and how they view themselves. They make up for their perceived lack of competence by denying shortcomings, minimizing failures, and surrounding themselves with people who accept them.
  • Competence Based Self-Esteem: -10,+10 These individuals measure how they feel about themselves by their achievements and successes. They compensate for their lack of worth by exaggerating the importance of their successes

Difference Between Pride and Self-esteem

Often times, most people misinterpret Self esteem as pride. But Pride is very different from self-esteem. Pride is simply defined as one’s feelings of excessive self worth whereas self-esteem can be synonymous to self-worth, but not necessarily that high. Hence, self-esteem is a stable level of self-worth. It is rather the aggregate sum of one’s feelings of worthiness.
High self-esteem does not necessarily equate to pride. If you contest with anyone just to prove that you are right then that is pride. When you perform your dance really well in front of everybody because you believe that you are good then that is a show of high self-esteem. It is very much different compared to claiming that you are the best and that no one can defeat you in the dance. This misleading or misguiding thought makes the proud person suffer from, not just an overly high self-esteem (pride) but excessive amounts of it.

Raising low self-esteem

We all have times when we lack confidence and don’t feel good about ourselves, we are humans na, we are not Angels. But when low self-esteem becomes a long-term problem, it can have a harmful effect on our mental health and our lives.
Self-esteem is the opinion we have of ourselves. When we have healthy self-esteem, we tend to feel positive about ourselves and about life in general. It makes us able to deal with life’s ups and downs better.
When our self-esteem is low, we tend to see ourselves and our life in a more negative and critical light. We also feel less able to take on the challenges life throws at us.

What causes low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem often begins in childhood. Teachers, friends, siblings, parents, and even the media give us lots of messages – both positive and negative. But for some reason, the message that you are not good enough sticks.
You may have found it difficult to live up to other people’s expectations of you, or to your own expectations.
Stress and difficult life events, such as serious illness or a bereavement, can have a negative effect on self-esteem. Personality can also play a part. Some of us are simply more prone to negative thinking, while others set impossibly high standards for themselves. Now, whatever it is that can be your cause of your low self esteem, now is the time to raise your self esteem.

Ways to improve low self-esteem

FIND YOURSELF

As you get to this point of this article, take a break, drop your gadget, pick up the mirror, look into it, call your name three times, ask yourself “who I Epp?”
It’s very important for an individual with low self-esteem to communicate with himself or herself before taking progressive steps towards raising a low self-esteem.

Recognise what you are good at

We are all good at something, whether it’s cooking, singing, doing puzzles or being a friend. We also tend to enjoy doing the things we are good at, which can help to boost your mood.

Build positive relationships

If you find certain people tend to bring you down, try to spend less time with them, or tell them how you feel about their words or actions. Seek out relationships with people who are positive and who appreciate you.

Be kind to yourself

Professor Williams advises: “Be compassionate to yourself. That means being gentle to yourself at times when you feel like being self-critical. Think what you’d say to encourage a friend in a similar situation. We often give far better advice to others than we do to ourselves.”

Learn to be assertive

Being assertive is about respecting other people’s opinions and needs, and expecting the same from them.
One trick is to look at other people who act assertively and copy what they do. “It’s not about pretending you’re someone you’re not,” says Professor Williams. “It’s picking up hints and tips from people you admire and letting the real you come out. There’s no point suddenly saying, ‘I’m going to be Chris Hoy’, but you might be able to get your bike out and do a bit of cycling for the first time in ages.”

Start saying 'no'

People with low self-esteem often feel they have to say yes to other people, even when they don’t really want to. The risk is that you become overburdened, resentful, angry and depressed.
“For the most part, saying no doesn’t upset relationships,” says Professor Williams. “It can be helpful to take a scratched-record approach. Keep saying no in different ways until they get the message.”

Give yourself a challenge

We all feel nervous or afraid to do things at times. People with healthy self-esteem don’t let these feelings stop them from trying new things or taking on challenges.
Set yourself a goal, such as joining an exercise class or going to a social occasion. Achieving your goals will help to increase your self-esteem.

Conclusion:
We all know that self-esteem can be an important part of success. Too little self-esteem can leave people feeling defeated or depressed. It can also lead people to make bad choices, fall into destructive relationships, or fail to live up to their full potential. But what about too much self-esteem? Narcissism can certainly be off-putting and can even damage personal relationships.
Self-esteem levels at the extreme high and low ends of the spectrum can be damaging, so the ideal is to strike a balance somewhere in the middle.
A realistic yet positive view of the self is often considered the ideal.
